Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2 September 2026
This policy explains how the Wi-Fi Scanner app ("the app", "we") handles information. The app is published by [Your name / company] and contact is [your-contact-email].
What the app does
Wi-Fi Scanner lists nearby Wi-Fi access points (name, signal strength, channel, band, security) and shows channel-congestion advice. It is a scanning utility.
Information the app itself collects
The app does not collect, store, or transmit your personal data or your location.
- Location permission (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION): Android requires this permission for any app to read Wi-Fi scan results — it is a platform rule. We use it only to obtain the list of nearby Wi-Fi networks on your device. We do not collect, log, store, or share your geographic location.
- The list of scanned networks is shown on screen and is not sent anywhere by us.
- The app has no accounts, no sign-in, and no server of our own.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
The app displays ads through Google AdMob. To serve ads, Google and its partners may collect and process data, including a device advertising identifier, IP address, and app-usage data, in accordance with Google’s own policies.
- Google’s privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy
- Consent: where required (e.g. the EU/UK/EEA), the app shows Google’s consent form (UMP) so you can choose whether ads are personalised. You can reset your advertising ID in device settings.
Purchasing the “Remove ads” or “Pro” option disables ads and the ad SDK stops requesting them.
Purchases
One-time purchases and subscriptions are processed by Google Play Billing. We do not receive or store your payment details; Google handles the transaction.
Children
The app is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
Data sharing & retention
We do not sell your data. The only third parties involved are Google (AdMob, Play Billing, Play Services), which process data under their own policies. Because we operate no server, we retain no personal data ourselves.
Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction (e.g. GDPR, PDPA, CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data. As we hold no personal data, ad-related requests should go to Google; for anything about the app, contact [your-contact-email].
Changes
We may update this policy; the “Last updated” date will change.
